Sovereign Grand Lodge
The Sovereign Grand Lodge (commonly abbreviated SGL) is the supreme governing authority of the Order and serves as the highest legislative, executive, and judicial body within the fraternity. All recognized subordinate jurisdictions derive authority from the Sovereign Grand Lodge, either directly or through chartered grand bodies operating under its jurisdiction.
The Sovereign Grand Lodge establishes constitutional law, ritual standards, recognition policy, and inter-jurisdictional governance for the Order as a whole.
The current Sovereign Grand Master is Thomas J. Calabrese, serving for the 2025–2026 term.
Authority
The Sovereign Grand Lodge possesses supreme authority over all matters affecting the Order internationally and constitutionally. Its powers include:
- Granting and revoking charters.
- Recognizing or withdrawing recognition from jurisdictions.
